Socks of God got started after my first day of volunteering with the Orange County rescue mission's chili van through my church's small group. This was my first time volunteering with the homeless, and I truly did not know what to expect, and was unsure of how I would feel about it.

I remember as I was pouring a bowl of chili for this homeless man, he asked me if I had any socks to give him. I thought to myself this man is more concerned with a pair of socks then this hot bowl of chili that I was pouring him. I said to the man, "next week I will bring you some socks.”  That night after I was finished serving the homeless hot chili, coffee and snacks I thought to myself  "What can I do  to give back?"

Later that evening I logged onto my Facebook and there before me was a picture that had gone viral with a young man with a sign that read “socks were needed the most but given the least." Having remembered the conversation I had with the homeless man, I thought to myself I can collect socks and give them out. I figured that socks would be easy to collect. I suddenly had so many ideas about what I can do to give back. I wanted to make a difference one pair of socks at a time. I wanted to restore the dignity and grace in the heart of the homeless one pair of socks at a time.

Our mission at Socks of God is to restore dignity and grace in the hearts of the homeless one pair of socks at a time.

At Socks of God it is our mission to bring awareness to homelessness and the basic needs to those who are homeless. Socks of God collects new and used socks to distribute them directly to the homeless.

In trying to raise awareness for the homeless we conduct sock drives in the community with all different types of organizations. From the fundraising that we do, new socks are purchased and handed out by volunteers directly to the homeless at various locations as well as homeless shelters, the Orange County rescue mission, and the Pantry House.
